Duo / Dual core processors
Duo /Dual core processors have two processing cores, which allows for better resource usage when multiple applications are running simultaneously. New software already use the full capabilities of dual core processors.
AMD Processor
AMD processors have been at the forefront of performance for several years now, offering higher performance and lower power usage. AMD tend to run cooler than their Intel counterparts. TheAcer Ferrari laptop uses the AMD processor.
Intel Processor
The Intel processor is South Africa's best known processor in main stream computers and laptops. With the largest market share, the Intel processor dominates the market and is found on the majority of laptops.
The Intel Pentium M is the procesor used in laptops and offer enhanced battery power saving capabilities.
Laptop wireless technology
Wireless connectivity allows for connection at hot-spots such as at airports, certain coffee shops and in office blocks.
802.11b Wireless technology allows for connection speeds of up to 11Mbps while 802.11g increases the speed to 54Mbps.
Wireless technologies offered on laptops is not the same as the mobile 3G / GPRS / EDGE.
Bluetooth
Bluetooth is a wireless technology that allows a user to connect to wireless keyboards, mice, printers, pocket computers and cell phones.
