Toshiba broadens its Satellite and Portégé lineup featuring NEW 2010 Intel® Core™ Processors and Multi Touch Screen Technology

SINGAPORE, 8 January 2010 - Toshiba's Computer Systems Division (CSD), a division of Toshiba Singapore Pte Ltd, today reinforced its strategy to bring powerful, portable and affordable notebook computers with several enhancements to its line of Satellite and Portégé notebook computers. Delivering impressive power with the new 2010 Intel® Core™ Processors, high-quality display with multi touch-screen capability on its Satellite M500 Premier Series and state-of-the-art productivity tools, the new Satellite and Portégé offerings combine the best balance in value and performance without comprising on quality and reliability.

New Intel® Core™ Processor Family

Toshiba's popular line up of Notebook PCs consisting of its Satellite M500 (Premier Series), Portégé M900 (Signature Series), and Satellite L510 are now enhanced with the all new Intel® Core™ Processors. These include the new Intel® Core™ i5 and i3 processors with dual-core parts and Intel® Hyper Threading technology, which features four-way multi-task processing that allows each core of the processor to work on two tasks at the same time.

The Intel® Core™ i5 processor also features Turbo Boost technology, which automatically speeds up the processor when the Notebook PC needs extra performance. Intel® Turbo Boost technology is activated when the operating system requests the highest processor performance to meet users workload demand by increasing the clock frequency. No user intervention is required - the processor will automatically determine the maximum frequency it can operate at based on operating conditions.

Browse through newspapers and Web pages with ease, or flick through photo albums fast. Users can also easily sift through long lists and files with a natural swirling motion. With multitouch technology, zoom in and out by placing two fingers on the screen and moving them apart. To rotate images, press on the image with one finger and use another one to turn it in the direction you want.

The Satellite M500's touch-screen technology also works wonderfully with Toshiba Bulletin Board™; and Toshiba ReelTime™;.

With the flick of a finger, quickly scroll through automatically generated previews of documents, spreadsheets, presentations and more, filter by file type or use the calendar to go back weeks or months.

As a responsible global corporate citizen, Toshiba ensures that all laptops are RoHS-compliant, effectively reducing the environmental impact by restricting the use of lead, mercury and certain other hazardous substances. Additionally, the Toshiba Power Saving Eco Utility, accessible via a dedicated button, helps to reduce power consumption. It displays current power consumption and the power savings achieved by activating Eco Mode in Watts or translated into CO2 emissions.
